This is the first of two photos made around 6:26 PM on April 16, 2017 of a car on its side in San Francisco Bay across from Sierra Point Exit. Melody and I had passed this scene as we traveled north on Highway 101 on our way home. I drove to the next available exit and took this photo from Candlestick Point Recreation Area. I used my superzoom capabilities of my Canon Powershot SX50 to make this and the following image of the car in the water with lights of emergency vehicles and the town of Brisbane in the background from about a mile away. Since a news photographer advised us during a photography symposium that her newspaper only published unaltered photos, I did not edit this photo but presented it as shot.
