Boeing P-8I Poseidon
To replace the aging P-3 Orion (which first entered service in 1962), the US Navy has been looking for a replacement since the mid-1990s. It accepted and then rejected an upgraded Lockheed proposal, the P-7, and instead settled on Boeing's modified 737-800 airliner, the P-8A Poseidon. The P-8 is essentially a 737-800 airframe with the P-3's electronic suite, though it will be upgraded as time goes on. The first entered US Navy service in 2012.
India ordered a batch of P-8Is to replace their ancient Tupolev Tu-142 Bears, and these entered service in 2012 as well. I was able to get a shot of the fifth P-8I fitting out for delivery in May 2014, at the King County Airport facility. This aircraft now serves with INAS 312 Squadron.
