The Zionist Spectacle

The Zionist Spectacle. Coming out of the Jerusalem aquarium, looking straight in front of you, you see Zionism in a nutshell. The parking lot, below it a road, unseen. The mountain rises up and on it the wall meanders. Behind the wall lies Walaje, a Palestinian village. Before the 1948 war Walaje was situated furter west and north. After the war the villagers resettled on what was left of their land, in Jordan controlled west bank. After 19 years they were occupied once more by Israel. After a long time it was discovered that the (new) village land was annexed to Jerusalem-Israel, but the villagers did not get permanent residency like the rest of the occupied Jerusalemites. That started a long period of harassment by the Border Units. The latest action of the state is conspicuous: a wall separates the village from its remaining land. Another land grab by the Zionists, another attempt to uproot the Palestinians. This is Zionism. An unending land grab and kicking out of the Palestinians.
