Conv001

Right, the test roll is back from the developers for the Brownie 127 into 35mm conversion. Not stunning results..... Three problems arise. One: light leak. I think, despite taping up, light has got in from the red frame counting window. Remember, this is 35mm film unprotected by the paper backing that 127 film would have had. Two: Soft focus. OK, it is not Zeiss Ikon territory, but I had better results with my original Brownie 127 in terms of clarity. This may be because the film is not laying exactly on the film plane (but I thought it close enough) or perhaps a poor lens, or maybe camera-shake. Three: the electrical insulating tape I used to secure the 35mm home made film gate (127 film is larger) came loose, with a flap intruding into the film gate opening. I feared that might happen. Anyway, here are some results. I cropped out the black 'shadow' from some images, but the light leak remains evident to a lesser or greater extent. That is probably down to the amount of time a particular frame remained exposed to the red frame window before being wound on.
