Eclipse shadows

The shadows during an eclipse are weird!! Here you can see that horizontal parts are sharp, whereas vertical parts are soft. If you make a small hole (see centre of the crossed fingers), you can make a pin-hole camera and project an image of the Sun - the small crescent shape.
