Conceptual Portraiture inspired by Music

 

This is a collaboration with an incredible artist, Davin Gault, in an attempt to bridge a gap between two artistic mediums; Photography and Audio Production. Every month there will be a posting including an audio piece and a visual piece, one inspired by the other. We each get two weeks to work and each month we switch off who goes first.

Initiate: This piece is about relentlessness, of time and other tragedies. The bass line was the starting point for this piece. It swells and recedes in strength and came to represent time and its lumbering constancy. It takes different forms throughout the piece, but grinds on as if to dare you to try and combat its unabating pulse.

Response: From this piece done my davin I wanted to illustrate "a temporary battle." I felt as if something strong in life hit me and hit me hard. In the midst of tragedy, there was clarity and relief that this would only be brief.
