After the Santa Fe aquired the Toledo Peoria & Western Railroad, and its fleet of locomotives, it added dynamic braking to the GP30, and GP35's, but did not add it to the 10 GP38-2's. To this day, these 10 GP38-2's remain the only GP38's on the BNSF roster without dynamic brakes.
