Replacement Arrived
Yup, another Canon ELPH Powershot SD790 IS. The last one developed a strange quirk which ended its usefulness to me: the mode switch which allows one to choose Auto, Manual, or Video settings got stuck in the Video mode, rendering the camera unable to process stills.
I salvaged all the tiny screws which hold the metal body together; these tend to loosen and drop off over time, so it's nice to have a few backups.
For under a hundred bux shipped, this was a nice find. Glad to have a bona fide camera with which to capture moments vice relying on the Android phone. While the phone takes decent pics, it's unwieldy and prone to being dropped, especially when shooting on the fly. Makes sense; after all, it's a phone first, and everything else second.
Give me a dedicated camera every time. Hopefully I'll be getting years of use from this newest one.
