Mary had found the cloverleaf at lower right, where it was covered in dirt and grime in a Boston street. It had once been inlaid somewhere but had been ripped from its setting. We thought it interesting enough to take home with us, where Mary cleaned it and brought out its true beauty. It's come with us from our Boston apartment to Florida, where it sits on one of our bookshelves.
The cloverleaf is about 3 inches high by 3-3/4 inches wide. It is a quarter-inch thick, with three spikes extending for another half inch out the back. Those are mostly buried in unevenly-mounded concrete, which fills the back of the design. Total weight is half a pound (.23 kg).
