Bloodlines Cover Components
Volume #4 in the Deviations series. Anticipated e-book release: mid-2010.
Click here for more information about the series. Click here for a blog entry about my course change in publications.
Bloodlines is the largest volume in the series, and I considered splitting it up into two installments for marketing purposes. As an e-book, I can present it as a single work, returning the series to its original six-volume structure.
I designed the cover using MS Photo Editor, MS Paint, and MS PowerPoint.
I formed the background using cat fur that was part of my mixed-media piece, "Spring" (shown here). The face comes from a childhood photo of me (full shot is here). I took the skull off the Web and tweaked it considerably.
Update, 21 Feb. 2011: Bloodlines received the Sept. 2010 New Covey Cover Award for Most Artistic Cover.
