Inuit objects from Derbyshire Schools Library Service collection and archive material from the Franklin Archive at the Derbyshire Record Office.
In 1845, Sir John Franklin set off to seek the Northwest Passage aboard the HMS Terror and Erebus. The Inuit were the last to see the crews alive after they disappeared in mysterious circumstances.
It was the Inuit that fed back stories of starvation and cannibalism, stories that were discredited by the British establishment and in particular Franklin's widow, Lady Jane.
