The Manager's House was built around 1838. The ground floor has been furnished to show a lower middle class home from the late 1800s. The manager and his family would have lived in surroundings of this kind. There are also stables adjoining the house and opposite it, showing the importance of horse-drawn transport for a works of this size and location.

Abbeydale Works is an integrated site for the production of steel tools. Dating from c1714, it was mainly built in the period 1785-1830, and remained in continuous use until 1933. It is of outstanding importance as an example of this type of industrial plant and its characteristic design.
