Tracks to Salton Sea
The Salton Sea...278 feet below sea level. The largest inland body of water in California. Four times saltier than the Pacific Ocean. Fed by multiple sources, including the Colorado River, in ancient times it was the upper most part of the California Gulf. The "sea" was really nothing to look at this day. The captivating thing was the constant trail of giant freight trains carrying double container loads of goods into the state from who knows where. The trains weren't particularly picturesque, but the tracks through a telephoto lens with shallow DOF looked pretty cool. Another example of a miniaturizing effect.
