IRT Intervale Avenue Station (2/5)

Intervale Avenue was originally an Contract One IRT elevated station dating to 1904. On March 15, 1989 the station burned in an apparent arson. After delays and community pressure, NYCT built a new replacement station in 1991, opening in April 1992. The new station is of a modern design and lacks the IRT design and architecture, such as ornate ironwork.
