1962 Rambler Classic Custom 2-door sedan

2-door sedans were added to the intermediate Rambler Classic in the 1962 model year, the first 2-door 108" wheelbase Ramblers since the longer 108" Rambler was introduced for 1954 (and became the only Rambler from 1956 onward until the 100" short wheelbase Rambler returned as the Rambler American in 1958). The 1962 Rambler 2-door sedans were simply 4-door body shells without rear doors. A small number of 2-door Ambassador V8 sedans were also produced in 1962 (though not appearing in official AMC literature or catalogs). All new redesigned Rambler Classic and Ambassador models on a 112" wheelbase appeared for the 1963 model year, making these the only 2-door 108" Ramblers. The 1962 Classic was offered in Deluxe, Custom and 400 series, with 2-door models at $2,000, $2,150 and $2,299 respectively (the 2-door Deluxe sedan being the lowest price intermediate sized car in the United States).
