2013 Porsche Boxster - (981)
Just some work to keep my hand in on some recent sports cars and Porsche in general.
Modelled here in Lego Digital Designer is the latest Porsche Boxster (model 981). Sharing much content with the latest 2012 Porsche 911 (991), the Boxster is aluminium intensive and larger than preceding models, notably in the wheelbase.
The model here exhibits a lego piston engine in boxer (horizontally opposed cylinder) configuration, mounted centrally within the wheelbase. The car has independent suspension, front and rear. Having the engine in the middle of the car frees up two luggage areas, one in the nose, and the other in the rear of the car, behind the engine.
The new Boxter share styling cues with the propose Porsche 918 mid-engined sports car, moving away from the traditional round headlight treatment. Otherwise, the styling and body form is very familiar from earlier Boxster generations.
