BMW e38 750iL
The BMW E38 is the third generation of the BMW 7 Series luxury cars and was produced from 1994 to 2001. It replaced the E32 7 Series and was produced with petrol and turbo-diesel straight-six and V8 engines, along with a petrol V12 flagship model.
The version shown here is the 750 iL powered by a 5.4L V12 engine. This was larger by 0.4L and an increase in power by 18 kW over the preceding 5.0L unit in the E32 - BMW's first V12 production car.
Other petrol engines included 2.8L and 3.0L DOHC 24v inline sixes, and 3.5L, 4.0L and 4.4L DOHC 32v V8s.
The styling was evolved from the prior E32, though all models had wide kidney grilles, and the car was larger over all. An update in 1998 saw a change to updated versions of increased capacity engines (launched in 1996), and the black trim seen on the lower edge of the body and bumpers was changed to the body colour. At this time, the turn signals were changed from amber to clear.
