Citroen Xantia
The Xantia replaced the earlier Citroën BX (which straddled both small and large family car segments). Production commenced from late 1992.
The Xantia was available in both Berline (Hatchback) and Break (Estate) forms. The platform was shared with its PSA partner Peugeot for the 406. The Citroen differed in that it used an improved form of Citroen's characteristic Hydractive suspension, a development of the oleopnuematic system originally developed for the Citroen Traction Avant.
The Xantia's styling was futuristic and wedgy in an era of bland rounded forms.
Xantia production concluded in Europe in 2002, whereupon it was replaced with the first generation Citroen C5 model of similar configuration.
