Renault Twingo GT MkIII (2014)

The Renault twingo nameplate was first used in 1993. The intent was to replace the non-ancient Renault 4 with a thoroughly modern car, but to imbue the car with Gaelic charm.

The car was very small, a product of thoughtful consideration to the layout of all systems within the vehicle, whilst still providing generous accommodations to the passengers. The car was marketed primarily at women, and featured pastel colour paintwork.

In 2014 Renault launched in Twingo Mk III. The chief innovation of the car was the rear-mount installation of the powertrain, driving the rear wheels. Renault had used this layout in its small cars immediately post-WWII. with the 4CV, but almost no new cars had been launched in Europe with this layout for 50 years.

The other change for the model was the adoption of 5-doors (in lieu of the 3 doors used on Twingos I and II). The Twingo III is portrayed as a more masculine car, and includes models such as the GT which reflect a more traditionally 'sporty' character.

This Lego miniland-scale Renault Twingo GT MkIII has been created for Flickr LUGNuts' 115th Build Challenge, - "The French Connection", - for cars with a connection to France.
