Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider (1954-1955)

Chances are that you may not of heard of the Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider. That is, unless you are interested in beautiful cars.

I would have thought that they would have sold quite a few - it is very, very pretty. However, there were only ever 240 cars built 1954 - 1955. Of course, being very pretty and very rare (and quite old now) tends to make you quite valuable, and the B24 Spider values have now crept towards three quarters of a million dollars.

What else is special?

The Spider was styled by Pininfarina, and rode on a shorter wheelbase than the earlier (and concurrent) Coupe. The 2.5 Litre V6 was an enlarged version of the engine fitted to the first series of Aurelia Coupes (the first production V6 engine fitted to a car).

Most of all though, the Spider is beautiful. Delicate stylistic touches abound. The shield grille, split bumpers, wrap around windshield and curvaceous bodywork.

Note, some of the images here include the rare factory hardtop.
