Cadillac 1949 - Series 62 Fastback
I present to you, the 1949 Cadillac Series 62 Fastback Coupe.
Very flash for its time, coming shortly after the end of WWII. A distinctive feature of this car is the emergence of tailfins and the ends of the rear fenders. Said to be inspired by the tailfin of the P38 plane, still under secret development, but visited by the Cadillac styling team during the war.
Big, chrome, toothy grille, and flowing lines with subtle chrome features, the Cadillac was quite a car in 1949. A decade on, you could imagine a well-dressed, middle-aged lady purring from one appointment to the next, in style.
Maybe not the plainest of cars, but one with potential, as Flickr LUGNuts Lego automotive group's 56th Build Challenge - 'Plain Jane' would prove, ready for the next challenge, 'Form Mild to Wild'.
This challenge has been resurrected for LUGNuts current build challenge, number 72, 'LUGNuts 6th Anniversary', celebrating our 6th birthday by opening up all the previous 71 challenges to our building community.
