BRIO Wooden "Roadster" Car (1940s)

After receiving information from Daniel and others, it is more likely that this car was made by BRIO of Sweden, not LEGO. It is from the 1940s and is one of the harder to find BRIO toys. Today, BRIO is best known for its "wooden railway" system.

As it turns out, a number of wooden BRIO and LEGO vehicles appear to be too identical for coincidence. They look like imitations. Who imitated who is probably the biggest question. So far, that connection has been lost to history.

This particular model is missing the original steering wheel and windshield. It's in otherwise very good condition. It is also very big...I swear it's around 1 1/2 ft in length. Check out all the pictures to see all of the details.

Does anyone else have one of these? A smaller version of the car is also on display at the LEGO Idea House in Billund, Denmark:

That car has the spare tire on the back. BRIO made a similar version of the car with the spare tire. My BRIO car does not have a spare tire, nor did it come with one. The BRIO cars had thing plastic windshields, while LEGO's had a metal rod, profiled to look like a windshield. My car is missing the windshield and steering wheel.
