22.04.2010 dandelion sunshine

i just love the time of year when dandelions try and take over the world. honestly, can there be a more friendly yellow flower? (ok, marigolds are just as nice :-) though they are often more orange...) to me they look happy and lively and soft and powerful at the same time. i just can't understand why some people consider them arch-enemies. our neighbour for example. whenever he glimpses a dandelion leaf he gets crazy, takes a knife and cuts it out of his lawn. maybe he should get himself a rabbit or a friend with rabbits instead. or cook dandelion sirup out of the flowers (tastes like honey, very yummy). or make salad from the leafs. or dry the roots for medical or magical use... :-)

 

i was too lazy to do garden work on my own in the afternoon today. so to not be a total failure i took a walk to the cemetary to water the (slug tortured) pansies. i took the pic at a gap between buildings i passed on the way.

at least i could get myself to mow the front lawn and get the stuff to the compost afterwards in the evening while sis was weeding.
