Waupaca County 2014 052

Lloyd and Shirley Ferg created their Bavarian-style village on their Waupaca County, Wisconsin, farm, which has been in the Ferg family since 1898. The farmhouse was built in 1912, and the Fergs made the upstairs floor of the house into a bed and breakfast in 1992.

An old machine shed was converted in 1993 into a gift shop, where most of the items sold come from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 1995, an old horse barn was made into a church replica. And, in 1998, the garage was converted into a biergarten.

In their little village, the Fergs hosted 13 Oktoberfest celebrations. In 2003, they added the Alpen Rosen Room, increasing the biergarten seating to more than 50.
