This old elevator from the Merry and Weeks Cheese Factory is on display in the N.Y.S. Museum of Cheese building at the Erie Canal Village. The NYS Museum of Cheese is in the building which originally housed the Weeks & Merry Cheese Factory, from 1862 to 1910. During that time the Merry & Weeks Cheese Factory was located in Verona, NY. The old building was moved to and reconstructed at the Erie Canal Village about 25 years ago. The cheese museum chronicles the history and the glory days of cheesemaking in New York State. The Erie Canal Village is located on Routes 46/49, just west of Rome, NY.
