Lock 59 - Newark

This is the partly buried but still visible south chamber of Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 59 in Newark, NY. Built in 1841, it started out as a single chamber lock with the second chamber being built in 1874. Located near Barge Lock 28-B on North Clinton Street.
