Nicky, introducing "Away But Never Gone": "I got my first ukulele about six years ago at a place called Elderly instruments; my partner Grant (Johnson), who is our sound engineer and the father of the boys, bought me my first ukulele. And I wrote this song very soon after getting it. And at the time a friend of ours had recently passed away unexpectedly. So when I wrote this song, I very much felt like it was about him but no lyrics would come; so it went on the shelf for quite awhile; and it wasn’t until I was pregnant again that I started playing again. And all of a sudden the lyrics all came. It was still about this friend, but it was also about these two little lives that were growing inside. I realized that I was writing a song about that mysterious place wherever we are when we enter the planet and where we are when we leave it."
