Flexaret II Prontor II Shutter (08)

Gauthier Prontor II Leaf Shutter as used on a Meopta Flexaret II, Czech Medium Format (6x6) TLR. Produced from 1947 till 1948.

After spending hours on all kinds of methods trying to re-install the release lever with its (nasty) spring i finaly managed with this one :

Put a wooden toothpick through the levers hole, tension the spring manually and then apply

a bondage ( ;-) ) to the ensemble with sewing machine yarn.

Next install it on the shutter base and then cut and remove the yarn.

That wooden toothpick is there as an insurance against flying springs (never to be found again).

Of course there is even a better method : Never ever remove the release lever on a Prontor II ;-)

This image is intended as a guide for the more experienced camera service man. If you have no experience in camera repair please do yourself a favor and send your camera to a professional service shop. It would be a pity to lose a vintage camera in a failed repair attempt.
