Rolleicord V Notes (21)

Rolleicord V

German 6x6 TLR produced 1954 to 1957

The Deckel Synchro-Compur shutter surprisingly was still operating well on all shutterspeeds and even the selftimer did work !

Must have had a service at some moment in time.

However it had a problem with the B-Setting.

The Blades opened correctly but the Release Lever did not return properly in B-setting and the Blades stayed open till the Speed ring was operated.

An investigation showed that the Spring attached to the Release Lever was a bit mangled. Probably not re-installed properly in a previous service.

I thought I had more then enough spare Release Levers but then observed a clear difference between that of the Rolleicord V (left) with the later one from the 1970's (right).

The length of the "finger" next to the post is clearly different.

So ended up installing the original Release Lever again making sure that the seat was now perfect and after a cleaning and micro lubrication. After that the B-Setting functioned like a charm again :-)
