Rollei B35 Removing Frontlens (01)

Rollei B35

Small German 35mm camera.

I bought this camera cheap by Internet and once arrived discovered why. When i tried to focus on a close distance the Frontlens fell of the camera :-(

Problem was that the Triotar frontlens was not screwed in deep enough when its collar was tightened by one of the former owners. In that case the turning of the Focusring is not blocked any more by its endstops.

To reach the collar you have to disassemble the frontlens.

Start by removing the flat plastic ring on the front of the lens. It has a small square hole were you can put a i.e. a pin in and try to get this pin between the plastic ring and the metal underneath. The ring is (in this case) lightly glued so you can lift it a bit.

Edit 23/01/2010 : As the infinity focus of the lens was allready spoiled by a former owner i didn't mark the rotaional position of the lenstubus as would be the standard procedure. Instead of that i adjusted the lens on infinity using an auto-collimator during re-assembly.
