Down By The Jetty

Aficionados of the very mightiest rock n' roll will know the album "Down By The Jetty" by Dr. Feelgood, often referred to as a "pub-rock" band. The band posed by a jetty on Canvey Island (which is on the River Thames) looking lean, mean and bluesy.
This isn't that jetty, sadly, but they're close neighbours as the one here is just round the corner from Dr. Feelgood's and also on Canvey Island, which itself is a fascinating place.
The jetty here was completed in the early 1970s and was never used, other than by local anglers. It's a mile in length and reaches out into the Thames; it was built to take oil from ships into the Occidental refinery (never completed). In the photo, the refinery across water is Coryton, the water is Holehaven Creek, a tidal creek between Canvy Island and Corringham in Essex.
