Filthier than litter
Found on the River Thames (not at Clinker Beach...) - possibly one of the few products dirtier than litter itself.
Wintergreen Copenhagen - it comes from the USA - is 'pad' tobacco, which means taking a plug of the stuff and lodging it behind the lip, then spitting out streams of brown saliva. It's a manly pursuit.
It's still used today as 'snus'; some paid footballers use it.
