as a few of my friends would tell you, i had this shot in mind for some time. to make a city of nuts and bolts. the photographer friends kept asking me to do it. i didn't have the knowledge of lighting i wanted to pull off even a half reasonable job. At the monday night class im attending, the teacher gave us an assignment; shoot any still object and, light it how we like. the class was divided in 4. as i was the last in my group i didn't get a chance to have a turn as we ran out of time. but promised my group i would attempt it at home. Juanita, as promised ;)
not enough room inside. had to move all the gear under the pergola outside, the friggin logistics lol. a big thanks to karla for all her help.
strobist info - sb800 camera left high @ 1/16 power, sb800 camera right and low @ 1/64 power both fired through umbrellas, sb600 fired to white backdrop @ 1/64 power. all flash heads zoomed to 85mm.
it didn't turn out exactly as i pictured on paper, but close enough. there are a few hot spots i know. it was getting late last night and wanted to pack the equipment and didnt bother with re shooting ;). the blur on the bottom is caused by my lens being butted up against the board the bolts were balanced on. wanted to get down low as i could to make the bolts look bigger then they were.
