Giles Watson's poetry and prose
Queen of Cups
Picture: Queen of Cups, Tarot of Bologna.
Queen of Cups
Oh that the cup were not lidded! I would drink from it
And pay the price of lust. Instead, she must be wooed,
Her sceptre wrested gently.
This is the illusion
I must receive: that I have taken it from her, that she
Would let it out of her grip.
But she is ideal,
And dreams may not be quaffed.
