'V'ery unusual
With it's unusual V tail configuration, specially painted Belgian Air Force Fouga Magister MT11 in the static park at a 1990's RAF Mildenhall 'Air Fete'.
Designed by the French, the Magister was the mainstay of their Air Force two-seat fast-jet training syllabus and was used by their National Aerobatic team along with 'Les Diables Rouge' (The Red Devils) of the Belgian Air Force. Both Air arms eventually transitioned to the Dassault-Breguet Alpha-Jet, the latter replacing the Magister with the Patrouille de France in which they still fly today.
Other users were the Irish Air Corps which have long been withdrawn but a couple of Belgian military examples have appeared on the show circuit in recent years so their is still life in these rather unusual looking 1950's designs.
