Republic P-47D "Thunderbolt"
New England Air Museum, Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
This plane was part of one of the American fighter squadrons in North Africa during WWII, where it helped to defeat the Germans under General Rommel. After the war, the pilot went home, married his sweetheart, and put the war behind him.
45 years later, they tracked him down, so he and his wife, Norma, could be there when the plane was inducted into the museum.
