American Chestnut Foundation

Hanford Mills Museum will be shutting down for the Winter, but they are ending the year with a festival, including civic organizations, with demonstrations of mill work, crafts, and lumberjack skills. One of the organizations is American Chestnut Foundation, which uses genetic engineering to produce a blight resistant Chestnut. They have put one gene from wheat into the American Chestnut genome, producing a tree that is blight resistant. Now, they are crossing it back into the existing chestnut stock. Of course, they have some detractors.
