Akershus Festning - calling out the guard

Akershus fortress is still a military area. As well as the castle and royal chapel, visitors can see the Norwegian Armed Forces Museum and the Norwegian Resistance Museum within the fortress area. The Norwegian Ministry of Defence and Defence Staff Norway, (the armed forces headquarters), have a joint modern headquarters in the eastern part of Akershus.
