Field Notes: Observations
I got to take a couple good long walks around a day while working the Tabloia table. You could walk a good way, but then you'd hit the wall of crowds waiting for free posters or to meet some celebrity (which all seemed to happen around the movie studio spaces) and it was a real challenge to break through or return the way you came.
The "Free Hugs" kids anime fans started to appear, and they all seemed to be incredibly depressed. By the way, there are no such thing as "free hugs" from depressed, sweaty teenagers.
I also had my first meeting with Mr. Deer, a member of the con staff who was in a wheelchair. He would stop by periodically to talk about things, pitch his idea about a secret agent in a wheelchair and to hit on any females who happened to be browsing the table.
