Elizabethan embroidery–blackwork pinks, in progress
Embroidery is not my "long suit" but I need to make a smock for Elizabethan garb. This strip will form the back of the neckline, with a similar strip for the front. Strip is 3 inches wide. The pinks here are based on the single pink motifs done in scarlet work on an extant Elizabethan smock www.naergilien.info/research/london1/VandA/Elizabethan/Re... but I have adapted the pattern to form a border. Black silk on fine linen. Non-counted blackwork (or scarlet work) can also be called domestic work according to Mistress Issabbella, my local garb Laurel.
