Happy 17th Rez Day to me!
Yes, another Canada Day, July 1st and my 17th Rez Day anniversary in Second LIfe. This year SL has reached its majority at 21 but I'm not so far behind and now considered one of the ancients.
There have been many changes over these years, both in my SL and my RL as well as the in the platform itself. The latest one is the arrival of the "dreaded" PBR! Textures are sooo much better we are told, as our computers moan and groan at the heavier load and many people complain bitterly. I'm hiding out for now on a previous version of the viewer while they work out the wrinkles. I am so not an early adopter! But we'll be forced to move up sooner or later.
So.... I'm looking at acquiring a new laptop, a 16inch MacBook Pro with the lightning fast M3 Max chip, a 16‑core CPU, 40‑core GPU and 16‑core Neural Engine, 48GB of unified RAM, 1TB SSD storage and a Liquid Retina XDR display. Sounds impressive, don't you think? Gulps at the price! But that should handle everything for quite a while, she says hopefully.
Every year I end this post with the same words and I see no reason to change this year so......
Over 17 years SL friends have come and gone, and many are gone now. Some I keep in touch with via Facebook, Discord, or WhatsApp, some of you I've met in RL but so many of you have touched my life in unimaginable ways and made it better. What an amazing journey it has been.
Thank you. I raise my glass in a toast to many more years with old friends and new ones to come and to new adventures.
