A Commitment

Clinician Tammy Pate told riders in her clinic how important it was to make a firm commitment to stay on board in case of an emergency on the trail. "I grab mane, saddle horn -- whatever it takes to stay on," she says. And then as soon as she is able, "then I'll get to my horse's feet" and begin moving them in such a way as to regain control of the situation.
