a roof. How did it get there? I think it was just a small pebble that fell from the beak of a passing bird. Dropping to the surface of the roof, it found a foothold. There it laid for eons gathering additional minerals that might slurry down the grade during rainstorms. Given enough time it will grow so large that the structure will no longer be able to support the massive weight of the boulder and it will crash through the roof and be united once again with the ground from whence it came.
That, or one of my kids threw the rock up on the roof.
