3rd prize
This battered little print has recently come to light amongst the Lost Albion family archives.
In the early years of what is now the Leighton Buzzard Railway, the line was known as The Iron Horse Railroad, the original plan being to build an american-style affair. This picture shows our entry for the 1968 town carnival, the 'locomotive' being a mock-up built on a wagon chassis which was strapped to a length of track and in turn attached to a trailer. I suppose it looks vaguely american, but the Red Indian 'squaws' complete the picture. Two early female members of the society adorn the front, Pru and Janice.
As it says on the cylinder cover, the float won 3rd prize, the cavalcade being seen in the High Street.
