A poor substitute

Recalling the days when a rickety old Leyland National would appear on Green Line service in lieu of something more appropriate, LCNE SNB193 heads out of Luton on the long journey to Crawley, a bum-numbing exercise if ever there was one, although the dual-purpose seating was probably some consolation.

The date was April 1987 and almost everything in this picture at the Guildford Street/Church street roundabout has gone; the factory, car-park (with bus station underneath) and petrol station. SNB193 apparently made it to preservation in 1990 but has not been taxed since, so we can probably assume it's demise as well.
