A customer recently asked as to whether I had any pictures of the railways at BP, Isle of Grain. Confidently, I said that I probably didn't. However, looking for something else, I found that I had. My excuse was that my companion on that day had done all the organising (mainly for visits to Chatham Dockyard and the little line ran by the DoE on Hoo Ness Island), and that he also drove us down there. All I had to do was turn up!
But there were the negatives of shunting at the BP terminal, including one taken from the cab of one of the locomotives, so that it must have been an official visit with prior written permission.
Here we have Thomas Hill 0.6.0DH 'Kentish Maid' (TH295V/81) manoeuvring tankers in April 1983, a TT type, 66181 to the fore.
