Poor show
I did not take up railway photography until two years after the demise of BR steam, so when it returned to the main line in the early 1970s, I lost no time in recording what I could, given that I was still a teenager on a low wage.......
On 27 April 1974, Clan Line ran the Basingstoke to Westbury leg of a railtour from Waterloo. This I photographed at Whitchurch and on it's arrival back at Basingstoke in the evening. I took so many similar views of the thing that I had one frame left to record 74004 about to leave for London. It was a poor picture, the dim light (it left on time at 19.00) coupled with the dubious lens on the Fujica ended in a less than impressive result. Forty years on, a picture of 74004 is rather more desirable than one of 35028!
