Tropical temptation.
This beautiful view is taken from Dalrymple Point in Bowen and looks out into the blue Pacific Ocean to North Head Island and North Head lighthouse.
There is quite a story about the lighthouse, here is the link if you are interested.
The mountains in the distance are mainly, well, mainland. Cape Gloucester sits like a big hook south of Bowen out into the Pacific. In addition, at the north eastern end is Gloucester Island as well.

Bowen is a town about two hours south of Townsville. The town has wide streets and is quite sprawled out. It's a rather dry area but is known for growing beautiful mangoes and tomatoes in particular. It used to have a coke works that converted coal from inland Collinsville into coke for use by Mt. Isa Mines in the smelting process. The coke works closed in more recent years and are now abandoned. Bowen is also the nearest large town to Abbott Point coal terminal and there is a large railway depot in suburban Pring on the line to the port.
As you can see, Bowen also has some beautiful views of the Pacific coast and idyllic beaches.
