Darari Obi

So, I have FINALLY gotten a Darari obi, and I did so with a BEAUTIFUL one. I've wanted one for a very long time, but couldn't afford $700+ on one item, and finally my wait turned out to be good as I got this beautiful for well under half the going prices for Darari. It is not brocade, instead it's thin, painted silk, almost like shioze over the thick core over the obi. There is silver thread going all through the silk, and it's something I've only seen in Taisho and Showa kimono. This Darari IS very good, but I don't know if this one is that old. The coloring and style does seem to suggest quite some age, however. I'd say it's from the 1950's at very latest. This is my first Darari to handle, so I'm by no means an expert at least.

There are some stains, but the obi is completely and structurally sound, except for needing some stitching redone on the ends of where the mon is embroidered. LOVE!
