Beeston Castle

I managed a trip out into the Cheshire countryside yesterday.

Beeston castle sits high on the top of a sandstone hill with amazing views in all directions.

 

Built in the 13th century it was very much a fortress rather than a residence. In the English civil war it was partially demolished to prevent it's further use a stronghold.
